When much is lost, when prayers fail, when you hang supportless,

Is there gratitude?

In those shadows, I still can breathe, think, see and be whole

I still have air, food and warmth

There is definitely that someone who cares, who feels

In the pounding of the heart and the fear of the unknown

There is that gratitude, for the unbroken core of life

Of much left and much to be regained

For in that seeming stagger

I am never forsaken

I am deeply grateful, for all that I still have

Tomorrow is hope

For tomorrow can never be today

For which I am ever grateful

Thank you that you are present

On my heights and in my depths

Thank you for being.
