DREAMS: WHY ARE NIGHTMARES ESSENTIAL

Our mind, even when we are asleep, protects us from very harmful inputs. This is a built in protection mechanism against mental illness. These inputs, words which are very critical about us can seriously damage us if we were to accept them.

However, if we are doing something which is really harming us or there is an outside event which can harm us, our subconscious mind scares us in a nightmare. So that we cannot forget that dream.

Therefore nightmares are a ‘gift of the deities’ as the old texts say. They warn us.

My blogger friend had a dream

Pastor at the church is lying on the ground. It is dark. He is dying. He’s there and yet he’s not there. She looks at him and cries. Loudly. Such loud wails which she had never experienced before. She loves and respects him. Treats him like the messenger of God. She wakes up very scared.

She told me that she normally forgets what she dreams. But this one was so scary that she can’t get it out of her mind. She tells me that she needs to warn him about his death.

However, the dream is not about the pastor’s death at all. There are no symbols about him dying. This dream is about her, the dreamer. Please see the symbolism.

She respects him as God’s messenger. Therefore, he symbolises spirituality to her. He’s there and he’s not there. This clearly shows that the dream is not about him. It is about her.

The dream tells her that she is doing something which is against the Divine Law. if she continues like this, her own spirituality will die.

Upon discussing with her I found that she had recently joined a ladies group, which met thrice a week. The ladies would criticize everyone and speak very uncharitable words even about good people. It had become just a ‘bitching’ group. Although she said that she never took part in the conversations, but the fact remained that she was there in the group and listened to all that.

Upon my request, she quit the group. Within a week she had another dream

She’s on a mountain. It is wonderful, green and a gentle breeze is blowing. She’s happy.

This is an ‘encouragement dream’. Indicating spirituality and inner awakening.

The Pastor is still alive๐Ÿ˜Š.

Happy dreaming and don’t fear the nightmares. They warn.

      • If its a one time dream, a long time ago. Then no need to interpret. However, if it repeats, we’ll interpret. But please be very sure to note down the entire dream. Where were they? Colour? were they threatening you? everything. Symbols are different for people.
For example a Tiger standing next to a warrior indicates his strength. If he’es facing it, its different. If it appears to be tiger trainer, its different. Depends on what it symbolises to you.
A complete dream is easy to interpret. ๐Ÿ˜Š

      • Even saints are not perfect. We all have our simple weak moments. Like I have for your mouth watering cooking๐Ÿ˜Š
But that apart, I think what you call maturity is also the development of empathy and kindness. As an outsider, I can sense it. Saints are found in real life, not in uniform.
My wife and I speak about you sometimes. Like now when we saw your mooli Bhaji recipe.
You’re just blessed and we hope you and your family stay that way.

      do you work?
Is your phone your companion for everything or do you use it for just calls and a bit of internet?

      • Ok so here we are. Ideally I would’ve liked to speak to you for 5 min. However, I’ll let you know of various possibilities of the message. I’m sure you’ll be able to figure out the exact meaning.
        1. The dream is definitely a Warning Dream. What is shown as happening can be averted.
        2. It doesn’t appear to be about the physical stealing of phone, unless you using a diamond studded vertu๐Ÿ˜‰
        3. The street boy is just a lowly character who probably doesn’t even understand his own actions. He doesn’t realise what he has stolen from you.
        4. The mobile phone is your ability to communicate. A vehicle of your self expression.
        5. Most probably this dream is about your work situation. Someone related to your work, someone low down, whom you don’t even think much about or even care may try to harm you. Which will result in a temporary inability to express your work or to put forth your point of view. Stealing may also be by way of saying nasty things to seniors or important others.
        4. Your inability to go into the hole tells you that you may not be able to expose him and reach out to such a person.
So, be careful and wary. Be very careful.
This appears to be the most likely interpretation.
Otherwise, such a loss could also be an inability to communicate with loved ones, again due to some useless person’s mischief.
It could spiritually imply the inability to communicate with your own subconscious mind due to some unwholesome thoughts.
However, the interpretation about your work situation seems more likely.
        Please think about it.๐Ÿ˜Š

  4. I find dreams and nightmares so fascinating. I used to keep a dream diary many years ago but eventually stopped. But Iโ€™ve been having repetitive dreams lately about driving out of control in cars. And all sorts of other things. Theyโ€™re always so vivid. Thank you for checking out my blog. I love your content.

    • If you search my blog about dreams, I’ve given some general interpretations about being out of control in car. In case you’d ever like me to interpret some important dream, please feel welcome to write the complete, detailed dream.
Your blog is wonderful, especially the illustrations with pictures. I have lived in Melbourne for 2 years . I did MBA from Melbourne Uni. Now my children are in Australia. A wonderful country with very good people.

  5. Excellent piece. Dreams, for people following spirituality is a great tool. When one chants mantras, the subconscious and unconscious layers of the mind gets plumbed and impressions are activated, which may be many lifetimes old. As this process integrates with “sadhana”, the night mares can get so scary that the experience becomes more real than reality within space and time. A time comes when the sadhaka or practitioner is “fearful” to even go to sleep. For a sadhaka, this becomes a barometer to check how the sadhana is progressing. More real, the dreams, indicates that sadhana is becoming deeper!
